HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, attended the opening of Jadal, the annual research summit hosted by the Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women.
According to Qatar News Agency, the summit which also saw the attendance of the Minister of Social Development and Family, HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, serves as a premier global platform for over 100 delegates from North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East to explore the 2026 strategic theme of ‘Muslim Women Navigating Theology, Ethics, and Society.’
By centering the role of women within the Islamic intellectual tradition, the event aims to build robust research networks that address the contemporary challenges and lived realities of Muslim women worldwide.
During the opening proceedings, Executive Director of Al-Mujadilah Dr. Sohaira Siddiqui emphasized that religious knowledge must function as a form of stewardship that remains rigorous yet accessible and rooted in tradition while being attentive to modern contexts.
This commitment to social impact was further solidified with the official launch of a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Social Development and Family and Al-Mujadilah, which aims to highlight women’s historical and contemporary contributions to Islam through various public initiatives.
Additionally, the summit marked the debut of ‘More Muslim,’ a narrative audio documentary podcast produced by Al-Mujadilah that utilizes storytelling and historical reflection to challenge simplified narratives regarding faith and culture.
Throughout the three-day event, panels and discussions are set to span a diverse array of fields, ranging from ethical business and bioethics to post-colonial legal reforms and spiritual wellbeing. By fostering dialogue between scholars, researchers, and practitioners, Jadal continues to advance scholarship that is deeply rooted in faith and global perspectives.
These sessions specifically examine women’s agency, ethical leadership, and intellectual contributions from the inception of Islam to the present day, reinforcing the importance of institutions that place Muslim women at the heart of knowledge production and public engagement. – Qatar News Agency
